About Mahila
A clinic created around women's health.
Mahila is a private women's health clinic in Camberwell, created to give women the time, clinical attention and clear direction their health deserves. We care for everyday health needs, changing life stages and concerns that require a broader or more detailed view.

The meaning of Mahila
Mahila means woman.
The name comes from the Hindi word for woman. It reflects the reason the clinic exists: to create a place where women's health is not treated as an afterthought, a side interest or a collection of unrelated symptoms.
Mahila brings women's health care together in one considered clinical environment.

02
Why Mahila exists
Women's health does not always fit into a standard appointment.
Periods, pain, sleep, mood, energy, hormones, sexual health, digestion and life stage can be connected. Yet women are often left trying to explain each concern separately, across different appointments and different practitioners.
Mahila was created to offer another way: start with the whole clinical picture, decide what needs attention and make the next step easier to understand.

Our approach
Care with time, context and direction
Being heard is where considered care begins.
We begin by listening carefully to what has been happening and how it is affecting your life. We consider your history, symptoms, priorities and any care you have already received before discussing investigations, treatment or referral.
Our role is to explain the options clearly, involve you in decisions and help coordinate care where more than one practitioner is needed.
- 01
Time to describe the concern properly
- 02
A careful review of symptoms and health history
- 03
Clear explanations without unnecessary jargon
- 04
Relevant investigations and screening
- 05
Referral or multidisciplinary input where appropriate
- 06
A practical plan for treatment, monitoring or review
### What that can look like

Care throughout life
The care every woman needs, at every stage of life.
You may come to Mahila for preventive care, contraception, periods, pelvic pain, sexual health, hormonal change, metabolic health, a complex condition or simply because something no longer feels normal for you.
We provide a safe and respectful clinic for women, non-binary and transgender people seeking care within Mahila's areas of practice.

05
Our team
Experienced clinicians. A collaborative way of working.
Mahila was founded by Dr Vidya Prabhu, a general practitioner and medical educator with more than 18 years of clinical experience and a strong focus on women's health.
Her work across general practice, medical education and multidisciplinary women's health pathways has shaped Mahila's approach: listen carefully, understand the wider picture and give patients clearer direction.
Today, Mahila brings together doctors and health professionals with relevant experience across women's health, sexual health, mental health, pelvic health, complex conditions and aesthetic and dermal care. Depending on what you need, care may involve one clinician or input from a broader professional network. Every role and referral pathway is explained clearly, so you know who is involved and why.
